Eye Contact Lenses Information, Best Use And Problems

    Many people prefer using contact lenses either for medical purpose or instead of the annoying medical glasses, as the contact lenses provides  them flexibility, more freedom, more beauty and can be used for beauty purposes for examples, to change eye's color , provides glamorize or having the look of movie stars!!

Contact lenses are a very thin discs made of plastic or silicon, the mainly purpose of its designation is to solve sight's problems such as; myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism, myopia aging and sometimes for people did an ophthalmology.


Types of lenses:

1-The rigid lenses
The traditional rigid lenses made of tough plastic and it used for vision correction, but this type consider the least comfortable type for eyes.
The rigid lenses which allow gases penetration are more comfortable than the traditional one as it allows oxygen penetration to eyes, also some of this type can be used at night for 7 days continuously.

2- Soft lenses
Daily lenses, uses every day. Removes from eyes, cleaned, re-used at the day and can be used for a year.
Extended lenses can be used for one week, day and night continuously but if it used more than a week it could be harmful for eyes.
One time lenses, it could be daily or extended and used for one time only then get red of it.

3- Decorative lenses

Used for beauty purposes, to change eye's color and it's shape.
World Health Organization gave an alert for using it without consult a specialist Ophthalmologist and to buy them from trusted source.
   

Important advices before get lenses

1- Do medical eye check at a specialist Ophthalmologist and let him choice the type of contact lenses which suitable for you and for your style.

2- Buy the contact lenses from trusted place- which have a doctor-, from medical center or from authorized distributor. Ask for the book of directions about how to use lenses and how to take care about it.

3- Buy the lenses which recommended by doctor as there are differences between lenses of different companies, at the shape of lenses and its water content.



Important advices to avoid any inflammation of eyes:

1- well-caring of your contact lenses is a big deal to avoid any inflammation at eyes, follow the guidelines of cleaning very well as doctor advice according to lenses type.
If your life style not enables you to do that so you can ask doctor about a suitable type matches your life style such as; one time lenses type.

2- Change the lenses container each 3-6 months.
3- Remove your contact lenses before swimming.
4- Change lenses solution each time you use the lenses.
5- Never uses home water even distilled water or brine "salty water" to clear your contact lenses; you can use sterile saline solution or sterile water.
6- Wash your hands very well before putting or removing the lenses, cut your manicure regularly to avoid microbes or any scratches.
7- Do not transfer some of lenses solution to another container as they will lose their sterilization, consequently exposure your eyes to un-sterilized solution.
8- Never put your lenses in your mouth as saliva is un-sterilized.
9- Try not to put any lenses while sleeping even if the type of lenses allows that, it could exposure your eyes to an inflammation besides the eyes need to take a rest and need to breathe normally at night.
10- Keep following up with Ophthalmologist and check your eyes each 6 months.

Do not ignore any inflammation or eye redness, un-normal excess in tears or secretions, pain in eyes, un-clear vision or unusual sensitivity for light.

1- Remove lenses immediately.
2- Consulate a doctor and check your eyes.
3- Keep with lenses and show it to the doctor, as it may help you determining the reason of inflammation.

Don't not use lenses at this cases: (recommended)

1- If you don't want or can't take good care of your lenses.
2- Having any disease makes difficulty in putting or removing your lenses such as extremely inflammation of joints of the hand.
3- in some diseases such as; un-controlled diabetes disease , excess secretions of  thyroid gland, sensitivity, asthma and diseases of respiratory system which can hold up you from putting your contact lenses.
4- Having any eye disease which can prevent you to wear your lenses such as eye dryness or ulcer of cornea.
5 - Working in a job which allow you to exposure to toxic gases, vapors and dusts which may absorb or stick to the lenses and cause damage to the eye.
